The Healthy Transportation Coalition has been fortunate enough to receive an Ontario Trillium Seed Grant, which is allowing us to do more work in three neighbourhoods in Ottawa. The purpose of the grant is to support community members to achieve more affordable public transit, better levels of service, and better connections to rapid transit for pedestrians, cyclists and bus riders. In recent months, we've established neighbourhood teams in Vanier and Bay Ward to identify priorities and take action towards a more equitable transportation system.
With the help of our Project Advisory Committee, we've recently chosen the third neighbourhood for this project: Hunt Club Park.
This is a new area of the city for us to be focusing our work, so the first step for us is doing outreach!
On Wednesday, May 8th, we are seeking volunteers to join us (Erin and Emma) in going door to door in Hunt Club Park to let people know about our work, and invite them to attend the first team meeting that we will hold in a few weeks in their neighbourhood, as well as asking them to sign the petition for our electric bus campaign.
This opportunity is perfect for you if you:
-Like working as part of a team
-Enjoy being outside
-Are passionate about transit, pedestrian or cycling issues, equity in Ottawa, and/or grassroots organizing.
Please RSVP Below if you can make it!
