With a big decision about the future of our City of Ottawa being voted on at City Hall on March 30th, community groups are organizing informed action against urban sprawl and uniting for just and healthy neighbourhoods.
On Saturday, February 22, from 10am to 4:30pm, join the City for All Women Initiative, Ecology Ottawa, the Federation of Citizens Associations, Greenspace Alliance of Canada’s Capital, Healthy Transportation Coalition, and Just Food at this invitation only event. A vegetarian lunch will be provided.
This event will share information on how to build an inclusive, healthy and sustainable city within the current urban footprint, and organize around ways to influence the upcoming Council decision on the urban boundary. A detailed agenda is forthcoming, and will be posted here.

Background: The initiative builds on The People's Plan for Ottawa's Climate Emergency, a broad-based Forum encouraging the City to create a new Official Plan that goes further and faster on the climate and climate justice agenda. For information on results to date visit the website www.ottawaclimatesolutions.net which includes priorities and policy actions developed by 11 discussion groups, on Nature, Food, Buildings and Transportation, as well as the Economy. It also contains several videos relevant to the ongoing development of Ottawa’s new Official Plan (from Dianne Saxe, former Environment Commissioner for the Province of Ontario, and from Mitchell Beer, the Managing Editor of The Energy Mix). Importantly, the site provides you with an opportunity to comment and contribute to the ongoing development of “The People’s Plan for Ottawa’s Climate Emergency”. To do so, and to build momentum behind climate action, Sign-up to the Forum. To voice your support for an end to urban sprawl in Ottawa, send an email to your City Councillor and the Mayor, over on Ecology Ottawa's website.
