With Ottawa set to put a greater focus on equity and inclusion when it updates the Official Plan and Transportation Master Plan, it is important to understand what this means and what some initial community priorities are. Social equity is an emerging but challenging planning issue. Policy makers, practitioners and the general public want to ensure that individual policy and planning decisions help support social equity goals.
This workshop will discuss transportation equity issues and provide guidance for incorporating them into planning analysis. It will describe various social equity impacts, discuss ways to evaluate these impacts, and discuss practical ways that local transportation planning can help achieve equity goals including increased affordability, economic opportunity and community health.
You are cordially invited to attend the Planning & Transportation Equity Workshop on May 15th from 1pm to 4pm at Ottawa City Hall. The event is being co-organized by Planning, Infrastructure and Economic Development, Capital Ward Councillor Shawn Menard, City for All Women Initiative, Healthy Transportation Coalition, and Making Voices Count.
The event is free, but space is limited, and RSVPs are required; don’t delay, please RSVP below today.
